Extended Warranty Question

I have a 2003 (03 plate) Laguna II 2.0 Petrol IDE . It has 38k on the clock (low mileage).

When the car was turning 3 years old I took out a 2 year Harmony Warranty, intending to change the car at age 5.

Due to a variety of factors I am not going to change the car this year.

The Harmony Entended Warranty runs out in June, and due to the sheer number of problems my car has had I don't much fancy running it without a warranty of some kind.

Does anyone know what the best warraty is to get on this car now? Do Renault do anything beyond the 5 year mark, and ifi not what companies are the best. I am looking for cover as near as damn it to what I have if possible.

On my previous car I had an AA Warranty, which I only used a couple of times and found very good, but I can't find any info about whether they still operate or not.

Thanks in advance.

There are a number of factors which need investigating before purchasing an aftermarket warranty;
  1. Is it transferrable to any future owner? This will enhance the car's value to some degree.
  2. Is it an 'inclusion' (all parts that the warranty covers will be listed), or an 'exclusion' type (whereby everything is covered except specific items).
  3. Is there a limit to the number of claims & the claim value?
  4. What are the vehicle servicing requirements vs what the warranty requires?
  5. In the event of making a claim, can the car be repaired at an outlet convenient to you, or must it be transported to an approved repairer?
  6. Can approval for a claim be given before the work commences, or must you pay it first, then claim it back?
These are the most salient points. I personally use a company called warrantyworks, and have found their coverage comprehensive, and premium competitive.

Hope that helps,

Thanks for the reply VelSatisfied. I will certainly keep those points in mind when looking.

I basically want the same level of cover I have now with the Harmony warranty or better.

Someone recommended Warranty Direct, but I have heard good and bad about them, and at around 800/year for maximum protection (although that does improve on the Harmony cover substantially and allows main dealer work which I would prefer) it is not cheap at all. Anyone have experience of Warranty Direct?
