Cool key fobs.

I have recently purchased a 2002 1.8 auto laguna estate from a local auction, however it only has one key fob.

I have searched several sites including e bay for a second fob but need some advice as to what I should be looking for.

The key fob which I have is the two button type, if I purchase one off e bay for instance does it have to be the same year, make, model etc or do the key fobs come as standard.

I understand that when I do get a second it will have to be programmed by a dealer for my vehicle.

Thanks for any advice.

Please be gentle with me coz I am a virgin on this site.

Two keys are supplied when new. For security reasons - Renault are not permitted to program second hand keycards - it is recommended to buy a new one 140 or there-abouts - and get it programmed to suit your car. As each keycard is individual someone out there even the previous owner could steal your car - whilst Renault are reprogramming they could remove the programming that relates to the missing key. I suggest you be vigilant as a similar vehicle was stolen in my area after being bought in a private sale. It may be worth trying to contact the previous owner - never know your luck. Without a suitable key it is well nigh impossible to steal these cars by driving away. See attached link
