I have bought parts in the past for vehicles from ICE specialists - but definitely would not go down this path (or
) for sourcing a stereo in my new vehicle - thanks for pointing this out this option though. Cost is not so much an issue - had budgeted £300-£500 on top of purchase price to rectify expected "glitches". Yes I am coming round to the reputable alternatives (e.g. Sony option). The only problem (yes call me picky) is that the fingertip controls can be a little odd (e.g. the PAUSE) functionality is replaced by ATTENUATE (which is not what I want), and the thumbwheel doesn't function the same (to go up and down the tracks in a CD you have to depress the button underneath once or twice rapidly).
Will see how check goes with Renault - have a feeling this may turn up something - as even on volume 13 it crackles on BBC Radio 3, which can't be right. By the way I did go into expert mode and turned LOUD OFF (from ON) and SPEED 3 or 0 (from 5) but this made little difference.
