Megane - 1.9dci Wheeze on accel & Climate Control fan noise

Hi, This is my first post to this forum (and potentially the first of many!).

I am on the brink of buying my first renault; a 2004 Megane Sports Tourer 1.9dci. In fact, I'm off tomorrow to 'settle up' and take the car away.

My only issue is that on test driving the car earlier in the week, I noticed two noises which seemed a bit alien. First was a buzzing from the dash and the second a 'wheeze' for want of a better word on acceleration that quickly disappears after I eased on the gas.

I have been informed that the buzzing is a fan in the fairing behind the mirror and something to do with the climate control. Apparently, it has been 'lubricated' and is "a bit better". The second noise has been investigated and apparently there is no fault found. I am familiar with the typical high pitched ' turbo drawing air' sound on accel and it definitely wasn't that.

Any thoughts out there? Is the noisy fan indicative of a inpending complete failure? I guess more importantly, has anybody else any experience with a strange wheezing noise on acceleration on a 1.9dci?

All comments, ideas, criticisms gratefully received! I like the car and it suits our young family needs to the ground but I'm keen to avoid future posts being a diatribe of nightmare multiple faults and would prefer to be able to place some positive posts in the future.

By the way, these forums are excellent (i've lurked for the majority of the evening) with really useful contributions. I hope Renault pay attention!

Thanks. S

My Laguna does both, the buzzing noise is a little annoying but behind the rear view mirror the little box there indeed does the climate control. There is a temperature sensor in there and also a humidity sensor. Both work out the climate in the car and also work out the auto setting for the air source - recycle inside or take from outside.
Don't know how to fix it but it doesn't effect anything so I live with it !

The turbo noise is the same in both my Laguna and my wifes Scenic. It can be a little high pitched and noticalbe but this is only with the windows down and when in the car with the windows up etc then it can't be heard, both engines are the 1.9 dci engine.

Does sound cool though !!
