MOT Rip off

My 3 year warranty recently expired and had to have an MOT done. I went back to the main Renault dealer I bought the car from to have it done there. Lo and behold they told me it failed on emissions?!? They said I would have to pay for the failed MOT then bring it back in to have a diagnostic test to find out why. Cost 37. Then have the work done cost ???! Then pay for another MOT!! Total estimated cost approx 200! For an MOT on a 3 year old car. No I said. Took it elsewhere - and youve guessed it - passed first time! Another way of getting you back for claiming on your warranty I suspect. No more Renault main dealer for me. By the way, the owner of the Franchise drives a BMW X5 - funded by the people she rips of.

Register a complaint, and don't name and shame them here as it's against the forum rules...

However - it's not good practise to rip people off on MOTs although to be fair, it does seem as though dealer emmissions testing kit is a little less lenient than at an independent garage

Can you scan the two test result papers you should have received and I'll will help you with any quibbles. Alternatively please type out the info in thois post..

If what you say is true then this needs to be investigated further.

That's disguisting..

Also please add engine type ( petrol / diesel ) gear box type ( auto / manual )..

Name and Shame

Put this down to being new to this excellent Forum, but can I ask why it is against the Forum rules to name and shame poor dealers?
Many thanks.
