Modus Quickshift interior question

I am thinking of buying a quickshift DCI modus and was wondering what the interior is like, specifically are there paddles on the steering wheel to change the gears ?

My mother is on her second modus (great car) and the current one is the 1.6 auto, in the manual it days that paddles are available on certain vehicles - they look like a bit of a monstrosity and their presence is one thing that might put me off this model.

If anyone has any photos of the interior it would be great as the brochures only show the gear lever and not the streering wheel for the quickshift.

Thanks for your help

Thumbs up

Hi MacBriar, and Welcome to the forums...

Our Modus has a stick, very similar to a manual - no paddles, though these are referenced in the manual.

Basically, the stick has 5 positions...

Move forward to move up through the gears (1 to 5).
Move back to move down through the gears.
Move left to switch between Auto and Manual.
Move right to select Neutral.
Move right and pull back to select Reverse.

To move from two gears down (e.g. 5 to 3 or 4 to 2), move the lever back twice quickly.
To move two gears up (e.g. 2 to 4 or 3 to 5), move the lever forward twice quickly.

Also, the 'box will downshift in a similar way to a 'normal' auto by pressing hard on the accelerator - aka 'kickdown'.

You will need to get used to a slight delay when starting from a standstill, but, as with all the above, it's easy once you get used to it!

I found it harder to move back to a normal manual after forteen months, than moving to the Quickshift after 20 years!!!

Best Regards

I take it the quickshift has "creep" in a similar manner to the fully automatic. I must admit I have been driving the auto a bit since Mum got the new car and have fallen in love (I must be really lazy). T

The only thing that puts me off the full auto is fuel economy, I have got used to the diesel fuel economy of my DCi Megane, and the thought of giving up 50+ mpg for 30+ mpg is a bit daunting.

The Modus is such a fun car to drive, very manouverable with a Scenic like driving postion (when I get into my Megane I feel that I am sitting on the ground )

It does have a 'creep' function, for use in traffic, though it cannot be relied on when hill-starting. See my entry on this post for details...

Renault Modus recommendation

I guess economy will be similar to a 1.5 Megane - I get 55 to 62 average, not a good as a clio - probably due to aerodynamics (i.e. it's more brick like than a Clio)
