Laguna Initial help needed please

Hi newbe here.

I am thinking of buying a 2007 Laguna Initial 2.2tdi Auto.

To be honest, I currently drive a 2005 Audi A4 S/Line 2.0tdi manual. It is a stunning car but I need to save a bit of money and I would like an automatic.

Will the Initial cost me more to run in the long run? Are there MAJOR problems I need to know about?

I've seen one today at a Renault dealer for 12999.99 with 13k on the clock. It is mint!!! Plus, it will have loads of warranty left.

Your thoughts please???

Hello and welcome to the forum.

To be honest,I wouldn't personally buy a Laguna after owning an Audi.....the difference in quality is noticeable.

There are problems with the 2.2dCi,but as it has some manufacturer warranty on it you should be OK cost of repair wise, but the extra hassle of having to take it back to the dealers each time something goes wrong would be a pain.It being an auto will not help matters either.

Sorry to be so negative, but it's my honest opinion.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

Jona4, look for something Else as lagdti say`s you will notice a difference!, in the quality and in the fuel gage!, then again! you won`t find much out there for the price and equipment level for that sort of money, I`m the same i want to change but on looking there`s nothing out there that can match the spec level!, no1 on my list is the sunroof and theres no other cars with that size sunroof! unless you want a convertible!, just be very carefull in case you make the biggest mistake of you're life!, esp th 2,2 as lagdti says! good luck!.

I had my 2.2 dCi when 9 months old, since then I've had to have replaced.

3 EGR Valve's approx cost if the car had been out of warranty around 250 each one.

Outside air temperature sensor replaced. This was reading somewhat silly outside temperatures reading e.g 48 degrees C, during winter. Cost not known.

The car was out of commission for 3 X 1 day return visits to Renault to sort out problems with the way they had wired up the tow bar electrics.

1 Turbo : This was replaced very early on. Cost approx 2,000

The bonnet completely resprayed. In one area the lacquer had started peeling, BTW I had to fight Renault like hell to get this work done. Costs un-known.

Fortunately all of the above was covered by the warranty altho I could certainly have done without all the hassle

Both rear suspension bushes replaced. Costs approx 300 This occurred just after the warranty period had expired I don't know why, but Renault replaced these free of any charge.

All Tyrus have been replaced before 30k was on the clock. Quality 17" tyres don't come cheap

On the plus side, the toys are cool.
Very comfortable ride.
Not too bad on fuel after 2 tank refills the on board computer is saying ave consumption = 40 and a bit MPG
The car tows a caravan very well.

Sori ATM I cant think of anything else.

I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions.
