Diesel or petrol ?

Hi all
Changing my car soon and am looking at whether it is wise to go with a diesel again.

I do about 10K miles a year and have been getting about 53mpg from my 1.5DCi megane.

I am now looking at either a Modus 1.5 DCi quickshift or Modus 1.6 Auto.

With the current price of diesel (approx 1.12 per litre) I am rethinking the benefit of this as opposed to petrol.

Unless you tow a caravan, with only that many miles per year, then I'd be digging much deeper in thought too.

I'd go with petrol for your mileage, though a 1.6 automatic will drink fuel: expect no more than 30 mpg.
Another thing to consider is relative driveability. A small diesel is much better to drive on an everyday basis than a small petrol. The greatly enhanced torque figures make a huge difference.
