I'd guess the reason for diesels taking a longer period to fully loosen up is diesel is more of a lubricant than petrol.

Also if you are getting 38 MPG you're not doing to bad if this knocking about, my current MPG is 40.9 over the last 3 fill ups but this includes holiday mileage and the kids being currently off school, normally I'd be getting around 35 ish MPG which includes to and from work in traffic

BTW if the OBC is reset on M/ways and off peak, I would be expecting 50-54 MPG

Just bought a 07reg Laguna 2.0 dci 150 initiale which is giving me 39mpg on the motorways while my previous 52reg laguna 1.9 dci initiale used to give me 50mpg for the same route.

I have actually observed that on my last trip, the mileage went up to 42 mpg. I will be checking again later in the week.

Any further info to this thread from anyone - my 2005 Initiale, with the 2.0dCi 150 engine has never yielded anything higher than 38mpg...even on controlled m-way runs.
Any ideas on improving this from experience?
Thanks in advance.

Re: 2007 2.0 DCi 150, poor MPG?

My 150 has now done 54K miles.

MPG to and from work is around 35 (previous VAG diesels on same route would do 5+ better).

Motorways she is up to 44 (VAG 6+ better again).

Apart from being a very quiet engine there is nothing good about it. Give me a noisier, more powerful, more economical VAG diesel any day!

Never buying a Ren-no again.
