Scenic 55 plate rattle and thwack like noise

Looking for a bit of advice.

Have old automatic scenic. Its always had a couple of rattles. I.e the CV joint is noisy. It rattles on start. The exhaust plate rattles. So you can see I am used to the noises it makes.

Yesterday on my daily commute I noticed yet another disturbing noise. Its best described as a "thwack" sounds a bit like something is rubbing. It kinda eases a bit if I go over 50 but then that's not a given either. I cant see anything apart from what looks like a fan rotter on the driver side behind the wheel with a gnawed edge, but I cant say if this is whats causing it I am just saying what I can see.

Any ideas apart from change the car and get ear plugs which would be nice!!

Timing or auxiliary would be my thought.
Starting to break up.

Which engine BTW?

Car was built 06/2006 if that's any use.
