Angry Hit & Run Drivers

[FONT=Arial]Saturday night, filling the Avantime up & about to walk over to the Kiosk to pay then this young girl decided it would be a good idea to plant the rear end of her car into the side of mine . She looked over & then decided to drive off. I attempted to stop her but she thought it be a good idea to try to run me over . Needless to say no injuries to me but the Avantime took the impact really well - a renault that is solid? The extent of the damage is the headlights mis-aligned, indicator smashed & the bumper os scratched.

I reported this to the police who will investigate. My insurance company, indicated the car in question was not insured but they too will investigate. Incidentally, the incident was captured on CCTV which was quite funny to watch again & see me reactions!!

My point is, has any one experienced a hit & run plus what was the outcome?

Not had this unfotunate experience - although the front nearside door of my Scenic bears the scars of a hit-and-run whilst it was parked unattended sometime last year. If you have the CCTC footage, get the police to pursue the perpetrator for attempted injury/murder of yourself. It's one thing to drive off after hitting another car, but to then attempt to run over the owner - I'm surprised that the police don't appear to be taking this much more seriously from what you have said. Good luck, and don't forget to contact the Motor Insurers Bureau (I think that is what it is called) if the other car is uninsured. It's incidents like this that make me pay extra for comprehensive insurance, you never know who may damage your pride and joy when you aren't even near it.

1. Glad you are ok

2. Let's hope she gets what's coming

3. I reckon you're properly insured and presume you've got cover against insured drivers so should not be a problem

4. Although you might need to make a claim, it will be flagged as "no fault" at renewal and should not mangle your premium too much

5. http://www.PutFile.com is a great place to put CCTV movie footage so we can see you in action!

cheers for that. As for the police, their response was if I was not injured, then they would pursue the matter as a Hit & Run. They didn't give much hope to be honest. I agree, people like that put me through hell once a year when the renewal quote comes through the door.

Nightmare - the world is so full of ****e these days. Hope they catch her!

Like Ivor_E_Tower, the Espace and Porker have both been the subject of 'hit whilst parked', the Porker was the worst in that it was parked on a main road outside a busy pub with dozens of people outside one sunny Saturday afternoon. The car took a right belt and somebody must have seen who did it.

drivers , hit , run
