Laguna models

Hi all,

Six months ago my high mileage 'Guna self destructed and had to go to it's final resting place. A Vectra fell into my lap but it does not suit me so we will be parting company soon.

I have thought about what to replace the Vectra with and I keep coming back to the 'Guna. I need a five door of this shape.

My old 'Guna was an RT but I want air con in the next one (a CD player would be nice too but not essential) but I don't have much money.

Can anyone tell me how the individual models vary, for example RT, RN, LT(?) etc. Obvioulsy I am talking old shape as I cannot afford a new shape.

You might find that later models of the RT have aircon, as Renault tended to swap and change the specs a lot. If not, then look out for an RXE: The very early ones didn't have A/C, but they definitely got it as standard later on, although the spec flitted to and fro between standard A/C and climate at least a couple of times over the years.

The rarer but higher spec Executive and Monaco models will have A/C or climate too.

Unless you're prepared to pay to run a V6, the top pick of any of these would probably be the 2.0 16v. Though for some reason, the RXE was only available as an estate with the 16v donk for many years.

Later examples of the RXE (and presumably Monaco and Executive) should come with a radio-cassette in the dash and a 6 disc Alpine CD changer in the boot
