Why is parting with a car like having your favourite pet put down? I followed the missus up to the dealer's today to trade in our old (and mostly faithful) 02 for the 04, and she needed tissues when we got there. I must confess to feeling a bit emotional myself, and it wasn't even my car.
The new one seems to be an improvement in most respects. The interior trim is definitely better looking and of better quality, and she likes the painted spoiler (is that standard?) and the white indicator repeaters and high level brake light. Not so keen on the revised radiator grille (slats instead of the honeycomb) and the digital fuel gage, while quite funky, obviously won't give you the fraction of a millimetre accuracy that you get from a conventional analogue one. Somewhat annoyingly, it has more (albeit trivial) blemishes on the paint than the two year older one that we traded in, but with a bit of luck we can get those sorted on the cheap.
The car's an 04 model, so the factory warranty should take us up to 2007. After that, I reckon we'll be opting for the Harmony warranty again.
I'll be sticking the Parrot back in tomorrow (it only took me ten minutes to remove, and five of those were because the mic wire had been trapped in the door rubber when we got the alarm removed.) I'll try to remember to take some pics and do a 'how to', although the only bit that isn't obvious from the instructions is which mute wire to use (I didn't bother last time round, though I'll give it a shot this time.)
