Hmmm, Secret, Underhand whatever the goverment does is wrong when it comes to Taxes..
The bottom line is that Road Tax goes up and I personnaly have to pay more..
What happens to the extra revenue.. It doesn't go on repairing the roads does it!?
It just an excuse for this Labour government to make more money for their coffers using the new buzz words "carbon footprint".. How exactly is this extra money going to combat the problem?

See as to the title "Secret"..

We are ALL struggling to live here, however having spent 2 years in Spain it exactly the same for them. As the Credit crunch is affecting EVERYONE worldwide!!!!!!!!!! Look at the Euro exhange rate for example, makes going on holiday even more expensive..

So anything to wind the Politicians up is good for me, especially as they are ALL LIARS!!!!....

So Delta. What are you saying? That simply because in your perception other people are much wealthier than you, they should shut up moaning? If we all did that, the government would ride slipshod over us at any opportunity (not that I'm suggesting that they don't already)

No selwonk that isn't what I'm saying. I'm saying that while it isn't right at least it isn't a huge amount like £1k. That would be a crime against humanity. Not only that, there are always others far worse off..

I don't feel the cold either

It is the retrospective issue that I have a problem with.

look at it this way: Governments levy high taxes on high pollution (as they should) this means that the demand for high emission vehicles gets lower. This forces motor manufactures to develop cleaner cars so they can keep their market share (again, this is as it should be). Increase taxes again and the cycle starts again. This cycle will probably continue until we all have pedal powered cars Now while I agree with the good intentions of the above system, it moves us FORWARD.

So my point is why should you levy those high taxes on older cars which were not designed with the aim of having low emmissions? One answer is to get old polluting cars off the roads, but I don’t agree with this as time and our inclemant weather will do this for you! Of course the other answer is to get more money… I couldn’t possibly comment on that.
