Angry main dealer rip off

Hi all. Has anyone else been ripped off by a Renault main dealer? I took my 53 Laguna 2.0t sports tourer to Renault in ###### for a service at 38k miles two weeks after it had passed its' MOT. They rang me up and said it needed works doing that totalled nearly 1400. I declined the offer of them starting the work immediately and booked it in at a well established independant garage. I give the garage the list that Renault ###### had given me and said that they could do all of the work because they quoted me 650. When I went to pick the car up my bill was only 70 because all my car needed off the list was wiper blades and a slightly worn track rod end that wasn't even on the list. I was furious and called Renault ###### who gave me some and bull story that they are given very tight tolerances from Renault, but in my view brake discs are either 80% worn or they're not. It turns out that they were nothing near 80% worn. I will never use this garage again and would dearly like any other potential customers to either be very careful or stay clear. Rant over. Sorry!

Um... you should remove all company names immediately, or the mods will get you in a headlock and box your ears.

I've edited your post as we operate a no name and shame policy on the forum, but I do understand your concerns.Unfortunately it is not uncommon for this to happen, and I have been involved in a similar case recently.

At least you had the sense to question the work,a lot of people would have just said go ahead......

The main dealers do go over the top, sadly they do rip off customers who know nothing about cars.

I took mine in for a small job I could not do and they told me they had done their fantastic 21 point safety check and told me I needed new brake discs and pads all round, they were ok,.

I had to go back to them a month later to have the same job done and they told me I needed ONE new brake disc, they did not know what to say when I asked them how the other 3 had repaired themeselves !

Both their fantastic safety checks missed a brake pipe that was rubbing on the front anti roll bar !

A problem well stated is a problem half solved !

a 21 point checks could compromise of anything really

1. is there a rear view mirror?
2. is the OS mirror there?
3. is the NS mirror there?
4. are the wheel trims intact?
5. are the wheel trims attached?
6. is the car clean?
7. does the drivers seat go back and forwards?

and it could go on like that
