Does anyone know how much it will cost to refurb the alloys on my 172? I've had a few scrapes with the curbs recently and i want to get them touched up.

Our local bodyshop charges us 40 a wheel. That includes repairing any small dents or scratches, rubbing down and spraying/re-lacquering.The results are usually excellent.

If you don't get any more local recommendations, I'd highly recommend Proclean in Prescot. They fixed a rather nastily chewed rim on the Clio, and under everything but microscopic scrutiny, it was impossible to tell where the damage had been.

They originally quoted me a price (about 30 quid if my memory serves me correctly) over the phone, but actually reduced it (to 20, I think) when they saw the wheel and what needed doing to it. A lot of people would have just thought "If he's happy to pay 30, then I'll charge him 30."

So a genuine bunch doing excellent quality repairs. They were originally recommended to me from someone on one of the groups who had received similarly good service from them.
