You may get lucky Hugh. My brother had the centre caps of his TT alloy wheels replaced as the lacquer was peeling. I also had the tailgate of my last Passat resprayed as the paint was flaking. The VW appointed independent assessor concluded that it was contamination under the paint that caused the blister, so it was covered by warranty.

Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow...

I agree so easy to work on, even the EFi version with a bit more electronics was very easy compared to todays engines. Think that one was the worst of the bunch, not as good as the MFi version, not as much poke! I could whip one in and out in a few hours, k maybe a bit longer! hardest part was lining it back up with the shaft on the gearbox, lots of wiggling!

Plus the one I had blew the Head gasket and then developed a crack in the head. Car got nicked shortly after and the stupid idiots nicked the engine and left me the shell !! :loser:

I have had so many cars over the years its hard to choose but my most favourite in no particular order..

citreon visa gti what a car ugly does not even come close but boy could it shift

subaru legacy turbo had a few of these and they are brill better in some ways than its little brother but you know it will still be there when you park it as it looks like a hearse

peugeot 505 estate again had a few best being a v6 estate i made myself as peugeot did not make one best tow car ever

my espaces of course !

oh and yes cvh engines are good and easy to work on i still have one in an escort cab
