I think my Lag does it in 9.4 secs.

Not bad and certainly feels faster than the 2.0 8v Lag 1 I had previous (that'll be the extra 25bhp then )

Currently in dave_mezza2006's garage:
2014 Vauxhall Astra Limited Edition 1.4 16v VVT Turbo

O - 60 times are pretty irrelevant in the real world 50 - 60 70 - 80 etc are far more relevant.

Good mid range urge to me is far better than 0 - 60 times

Unless you like to sprint between each set of lights

0 - 60 seems pointless in dual carriageway driving

I guess that depends on where you do the bulk of your driving

My Lag is around 10 -11 secs I would imagine. I deffo know it aint that fast, my Mrs will sometimes tell me to do an overtaking manoeuvre to get past a slow driver, prob is the Lag can't deal with it...... or more to the point I don't feel confident overtaking in it cos it takes a dogs age to pick up speed.

My previous Mazda would do 0 - 60 in a little over 7.5 secs, 100 would be coming up in just 10 to 11, quarter mile approx 15 secs . Loved the close ratio box on that! Only prob was on the motorways it would rev quite high, 80 was close to 5k rpm if I remember rightly.

Next I'll be getting a bike though, 125 to start so 0 - 60 will be approx half hour to an hour! couple of years and I'll be on the 600+ cc bikes, Then 0 - 60 will be fun

On Motorways you'd be more interesed in your 30 - 70 times. This is where the engines torque comes into play so all the dervs out there should have failry good times as apposed to petrol equivalents .

Proper 0-60 times as practised by car mag journos are quite damaging to the car, mostly the clutch, but tyres and gearbox also. The idea is to hold it at a steady 3k revs or something and drop the clutch. Then at peak power mash the box into second and third if necessary. Sometimes the wheelspin in first is enough to slow the time so much a quick change to second is beneficial. Having never driven an automatic I dunno the procedure there, but there are so many different types too ...

You should still be able to get within a second or two of the manufacturer time without driving too much like a loon, but unless you specificially bought a 'stang for this purpose I wouldn't do it too often.

Gunning it at 40 or 50 to scare the b'jesus out of a dawdler is much more satisfying imo
That and multi-car overtaking manouvers. The mad mile outside Hastings on the A21 is good for this, in both directions

2002 Renault Laguna II 2.2dCi Initiale, 1990 E30 325i Touring (Bavarian Tigzwerken Express)
