Thanks Bob

Had some parking issues myself with neighbours blocking the campervan in.
The sight of a copper in uniform chatting with me about the dogs mess down the park was enough to stop them parking in front of my drive. (Some folk are strange but it solved the problem).

Currently in Getafix's garage:
clean and shiny Scenic 2 1.6 16v Auto. (and a Fiat Campervan).

Is it common knowledge in your road that you have a policeman as a neighbour?

Many police officers tend to prefer to keep their occupation quiet as once it is known they are often bombarded with neighbours wanting to sort out all manner of little issues, often matters that are not police related, especially if you have any busy body neighbours. It can also create more serious problems for them if some "undesirables" find out.
Obviously it's a completely different matter if everyone already knows, but have a quiet word with him first.

If it is a parking dispute on private land then the police will probably advise you to speak with the landowners to assist in resolving this situation if a polite word or note on the car window doesn't do the trick.

Yeah all the locals in the immediate houses know hes a copper but he does keep himself to himself (understandable really) - you know what people are like (can't say I've not asked his advice on many occassions).

TBH I'd never thought about it like that - poor fella must feel like hes at work 24/7...

I tried this very recently to great effect and my van has its own lovely parking space once again without having to box in my own car. The neighbour in question where previously seemed un-communicative suddenly was more than helpful which was nice. I belive it was Mr Tiggerz that suggested the idea to me in the first place!
I thankyou

Some good advice in here. I personally would goto the copper like has been said and have a little word. As you have spoken to him before you say, it shouldn't be a problem. Just tell him you are after some knowlegable advice really.

Glad to hear your parking problem got sorted bob.
