Some questions

Since I'll be getting my Clio sometime this week, I know that it needs a service. What grade of oil is usually used for a 2004 Clio TDCI (1.5L)? I know it's usually Elf, just need to know the grade

And also, can you buy headlights from a 172? I'd quite like to put some HID's in mine, but would require some projector headlamps.

And, most importantly, what issues should I look out for? I mean, it's a used car with 156K miles on it, but it seems to be in good condition without a single shred of rust.

Re: Some questions

5W-40 oil

HIDs..... Not only need projector lamps but AFAIK, all the self adjust and washer gubbins that goes with them.
(Blubs )

Service History, especially cam belt changes
Recommendation from Renault was 5 years or 70K miles and although it seems to have crept up.
Yours should have had two changes at least.... possibly 3.
If in doubt get it done (And water pump at same time)
Or look forward to a complete top end rebuild.

Water or damp in the passenger compartment.... lift carpets and look in cubby holes.
Sunroofs and scuttle drains are prone to leaking which gets water into the electrics behind dash and under floor.

On that mileage, oil pressure... on a cold start how long does it take for oil light to go out?
Any smoke or hesitation in starting, especially on a cold start.
How clean is the oil ..feel it for any grittiness and look for any metallic sparkles

General stuff otherwise, state of brakes, tyres etc and how well does it seem...looked after or simply a good valet? Look in the corners where a valet doesn't get.

The 1.5 is a good engine but at that mileage, I would not pay a lot.

Usually it's SAE 5W40, RN 0700 or RN0710. Can't say for sure without further details such like power or said DPF/nonDPF.

When choosing oil remember to put the mid/lowSAPS if your car has DPF (not likely). You can use fullSAPS oil if no DPF on board.

PS. It's dCi, not TDCI, the former is Ford's acronym

Well, in that case, no HIDs. And the rest just put a lump in my throat. I'm spending ?2500 (including registration and everything) for it, and they usually go for ?4K. The owner of it is someone I know personally hence the low price. The fact that it's imported also has something to do with the price but I'll keep it in mind. I hope there's no water it was an issue with my Nova. Don't want to go through all of that again
