Good idea! I used about 6,00000000 pads. Not really but I think used 8 evenly spaced, seems OK for now. I made sure both the plate and the car body were really clean of course too!

I am glad I read this thread as I am just about to buy new plates online is there any chance that Bob or Bagpuss could give me clue which website they used as I want legal ones.

I am going to France soon and don't want to put the big

I am a brit GB sticker on the back of the car so I need the info on the plate.

Cheers guys.

Well....just checked the link I saved for the place I bought mine from and it's coughing up a 404 error!
Typical, eh?
I've had a look round ebay (always a first port of call!) and found these guys.
Looks ok, but I don't know anything about them, so if they run off with ya money, don't come looking for me! :D

All this was done via email and I got the plates within the week, totally legal, even down to the BSAU145d mark in the bottom right-hand corner.
So, you can get legal plates from the net........
Thats how they get round it.

By law you need to provide the originals in person as anyone can use a photocopier, but I suppose it is for the law to decide if you actually went there in person to provide the required info.

As long as they get their details, they must be happy.

I must admit,I would be slightly wary about sending a copy of my V5 and driving licence details over the net.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

Yeh I definitely wouldn't like to take the chance of sending a copy of my reg., documents to someone I didn't meet in person. It would make a nice present to somone who wan't to clone the vehicle right down to the VIN number
My local No. plate supplier even prefers payment by credit or debit card that way he can prove details if challenged.
