I have Europe Assistance from, great service and price (59 for everything including home star and Europe) but I've only used them to recover the porker - I didn't want them to attempt a repair I wanted it taking to a specific garage which they did without question!

The AA came out to the Espace once because I had it valeted and the valeter left *all* the interior lights on! By the time I came to the car the battery was flat. They turned up quick and started it making sure everything was working OK before they went.

I've had to call out the breakdown services for my last 2.0 IDE a few times, and it invariably ended up going to the dealer for remedial work. In most cases, their computer doesn't even list the 2.0 IDE engine in the diagonstics menu, so they're doing well to even read a fault code from it.

Look round the forum for info on the IDE , and then consider either getting shut pretty sharpish or buying an extended warranty (either from Renault or elsewhere.) The IDE is an excellent engine when it's working well, but it all too often suffers from serious faults that prove horrendously expensive to repair.

Bearing in mind that you've only had it a fortnight and it's spent over half of that time in the dealer, I'd be inclined to pursue them for a refund and buy something else. If you can twist their arm into letting you swap for the later 2.0 VVT then go for it.

I have Green Flag through my insurance company, have bumped up for full cover. Have used their services and have always been happy.
I have had AA & RAC all very much similar. Most use 'local' breakdown companies so the service can vary.

Got a new French Striker, got a new Dutch midfielder, Southgate has lost his Woody!. And, unfortunately, still got a space in the trophy cabinet...

I Personally don't think paying extra for the AA will necessarly get you better service. I have breakdown thru my insurance and have found it spot on. As said above they tend to use whoever is local so usually means they are there promptly, and the same level of cover ie homestart, breakdown & full recovery is about 1/3 AA prices.

Just my thoughts.
