Quick question for company vehicle drivers........

Do all company vehicle (car or van etc) drivers have a complete lack of mechanical sympathy and respect for their vehicle or is it just the guy I work with?

I've lost count of the times I've reminded him that the van does have 5 gears and that screaming around @ 70 in 4th is not only painful on the ears but probably is'nt doing the gearbox etc any good, only to be told 'It's not mine so does'nt matter'!!! :loser:

Unfortunately I think all company car drivers and hire car drivers are all the same. It must be something to do with them not having to shell out the hard earned for the vehicle in the first place and any subsequent repairs. If this isn't the case then it could just be the general"I don't give a s**t about anything or anyone" attitude.

I've driven them both ALOT.

Some driven HARD, so I been nice to!

1.2 Clio to do 800 miles was a joke!

Depends, 2000 miles a week can be boring!

Generally, I was alot kinder on them then ALL my work mates!

Oddly the diesel mondeos we got on hire, we were ALL really gentle with!? Effortless on long distance them!

Yeh I would agree that many drivers of company cars tend to abuse their vehicles - suppose its an anti-management thing. They tend to forget if the vehicle is abused and breaks down its them that will be waiting by the roadside - it seems a very shirt-sighted view in my book. Surely if employees respect their employers equipment then the more successful the company is likely to be - therefore more job security.

Nope, not me. I treat mine as if it was my own. (take a look at it!!)

1) It costs me near on 200 per month in extra income tax (+ more income tax for the fuel) so I still pay my 'hard earned cash' for having it.

2) It doesn't matter if you own it or not, if you neglect it it just shows a basic lack of respect.

3) It is my car for not only business but also my family, so why would I want to drive them around in a 5hit heap?

4) I make myself presentable by not dressing like a tramp, so why wouldn't I keep my car in a presentable order?

Rant over!

Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow...

Wanna see what I drive? No pics of the latest Passat, but you can see the Scenic II here and the CB1000R here!

Previous Passat here and Bandit here.
