I sometimes wonder if stuff like that is true or whether people just jump to the obvious conclusion and start passing it off as fact.

When I had the Mazda 323F, one of the models in the range was the GLX-SR. The main differences over the standard GLX were electric mirrors and a sunroof. The dealer told me that SR actually stood for 'Sun Roof.' I was never sure whether to believe it.

It's easier to believe with the Japanese marques to be honest.

The Japanese perhaps like to keep things simple?! Well it was deffo the case for the Carina and IIRC Corolla at the time, we had all the brochures and the only difference was a cd player on those Toyotas

I'd have to agree with that bob but gotta spread the rep as usual...

I think keeping it simple is the key to almost everything these days as making things complex only makes it confusing for other people - especially when things go wrong or don't work as they should.

My impression of Renault is that they develop all their stuff in a lab environment but never really test it to destruction to make sure its gonna be reliable. As long as it works while its in their hands thats all their gonna worry about. Unlike the japs who seem to be turning into perfectionists.
