Cambelt locking pin tool HELP

Can anybody help me with a problem I have.
I've just bought a complete cambelt kit for my 1.9Dci Scenic so I could change the belt myself which I've done loads on other cars, The problem I have is your supposed to need a tool to lock the crankshaft part number MOT1054 from Renault this is 20+ . I have a drawing of it and it just looks like a metal pin. Does anybody know the dimensions so I can fabricate one or know if there available from anywhere else.
Do I really need to use this tool???

Hope someone can help

Its advisable to use the timing pin, but if you use a genuine belt the belt has white lines on it the match up with timing marks on the pulleys.
So you should be fine.
Remember the golden rule keyway at the top and use paint marks.
Your pulleys are fixed in place so you will be fine, but if on a 16V engine the you need the tools 100%.
