Kangoo sunroof failiure

Dear All

My wife has a 2001Y Kangoo which went in for a service recently at our local non-franchised garage. I asked them to investigate the sunroof which packed up a few months back, but they were unable to trace the fault.

It is not the fuse or the switch (so I was told), so has anyone got any ideas where the fault might lie? I'm loath to take it to the dealer cos it'll cost a fortune.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Matt,welcome to the forum.
Really you need to check what 12volt feeds you have to the switch and motor.
If you have 12v to the switch and when you work the switch you have 12v to the motor, then you have to suspect the motor. If you find that the motor is gone, then I suspect it's a headlining out job to replace, which isn't for the faint hearted!.
Is there any clicking noises when you work the switch. The roof it's self could be stuck?.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

Many thanks for the reply. I haven't actually checked anything myself. The garage who serviced the vehicle is very good by and large, so when they say they can't figure out where the fault lies then I figure it's probably beyond my meagre skills.

I'll have another word with the garage and find out what parts of the circuit they did check and then take it from there.

I was kind of hoping that this was a common problem which some kind soul would put their finger straight on, but c'est la vie!

By the way I notice that you are from Gillingham - I was brought up in Gillingham. My Dad used to run a garage where Gillingham Tyre Services now is. Used to be Stour Motors. Small world eh?

Cheers, Matt
