1.8 Engine

Good people of the forum, does anybody know why in the new Laguna and now the Megane ranges Renault have decided not to offer a 1.8 engine. In my experience these engines give good economy around town and are good mile munchers for those longer motorway journey's.

I'm pretty sure the 1.8 engines were there as some kind of "tax relief" for reps etc. I think they used to be quite highly taxed on 2.0 Ltr engines, but didn't want the lower powered 1.6 option. Hence some manafacturers offered the 1.8 engines.
I'm sure someone else will happen along soon and blow my theory right oot the water

I think I have CDO. It's like OCD, but with ALL THE LETTERS IN THE RIGHT ORDER
