I strongly suspect that there is a 5 or 10 litre reserve held in the tank even though the gauge is saying empty.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

Yeah it does say 60 litres but I have never run any of mine that low on fuel most I top up is 40 litres

So we booked the car in with our dealer and they looked at it and told us that there was nothing wrong. They said that the low mpg was because the new Scenics were heavier than the old ones???

I'm not sure what to do now.

Irrespective of what the dealer says, the manufacturer claim that both the old model and the new model will do 37mpg.

New car's do take a little while to bed in, however, so once you have passed the 2k mile mark make another assessment.

As for your dealer, typical bull¤¤¤¤ IMO. I would expect nothing less.

I think that the only way to get an accurate mpg reading is to fill up the tank (neck it) and then when you next fill up to the neck calculate the milage against fuel used. I also think that the new engine would contribute to lower mpg, you might get better mpg when a bit looser
