law on logos on number plates

Hey guys,
I was thinking of getting some number plates for my the car, the normal registration, just in legal 3D lettering with a border, (and a small text at bottom) but was also wondering whether it was legal to have a renault logo on the end. the website i was looking to buy off, offers this and suggests its legal, however a brief scan over the web suggests maybe it isnt. is it legal to have a logo on ur number platge which isnt GB, EU etc.?

Thanks guys

I think you will ind 3D Lettering illegal, the permited badges are the EU and GB, mind my motor bike and car No plate has a border, scottish flag and my forum name on it however it is a legal size with plain lettering, never had any bother

I doubt very much if anything other than the EU and GB symbol or such is permitted.
The plates must comply with current legislation and have the correct identity markings.
It is still possible to buy illegal plates but they are sold as exhibition or display plates for use at motor shows, etc.
You also have to provide documentary evidence usually in the form of the V5 (tax book)

For a short time we could fail number plates that had anything other that a countries flag or the GB/EU motif on them, but this was withdrawn due to a legal challenge.

Police use different regs than we do for the MOT though,so you may still have hassle if you use the 3D lettering and the Renault symbol.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
