I drove in at 5 am yesterday, through the worst of it and again today, and did not have one scary moment although I saw plenty of fools sliding around. One guy burned me of at the lights until his back end overtook him.
When I got to work, none of the side roads had been gritted so I took the union stewards out to assess things.
1. Find a nice snowy / icy empty road
2. Get up to 20mph in a straight line
3. Brake hard
4. Laugh as we sailed on
Then tried a few tight corners and inclines / hills.
Same result lots of safe, controlled sliding, no damage to car or other people / property and I grounded the fleet for another day (I really don't need 20 tonne trucks going through peoples houses).
