Many sensible motor manufacturers have done away with the off-side and near-side terminology simply because of the confusion it causes.
For instance the left-hand track-rod end on a french car is still the left hand on a brit car and will be an identical part. It also reduces any ambiguity during translation of technology documents. After all we don't refer to our Brit cars as being off-side drive - do we

It is standard practice to refer to the left or right of a vehicle or aircraft as viewed from the drivers or pilots seat.
As soon as we get rid of this off or near side terminology the better especially for those of us young enough not to have learnt the old system

Even young children can tell the difference between left and right, etc.

Rant over

Thats odd,I had you down as at least 250 years old.My adding up skills aren't as good as I though they were.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
