Exclamation Why Slam So Hard?!

Why do people insist on slamming the boot/door of a car? I mean when they cause a richter scale event throughout your chassis and subframe.

I just picked up my nephew from brother-in-law and SLAM went the boot [hatchback]. I swear, he grabbed it at its apex and followed through all the way until it was closed. I think he might have damaged my back-shocks! :loser:

To cap it off, after he buckled in the tot in back seat he did THE EXACT SAME with the rear door, despite me cringing/crying in front of him after he had slammed the boot!

JEEZ! I need a drink, and there's only flippin' wine in the house, and that's not drink.

It's a Safrane, not a Laguna.

It annoys the heck out of me.

Do it to their car, or if they don't have one - do it in their house.

If they complain, just say "oh, since you slammed my car door that way, I just presumed that all your doors were like that!"

That should solve the problem.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

My kids seem to think the doors are not shut right unless theyve rocked the car shutting it

i sit there with my fingers digging into the steering wheel and counting to ten ,,, befor i then explane for the 1000th time that there is no need to slam it!!!

i cant wait till they get there own im going to sit there slamming the doors and see how they like it

I always thought it was due to people having to
slam train doors but even young people do it that
have never been near a train and any way they are
now mostly automatic, I used to have a VW that when
the doors were slammed the air pressure hurt your ears
and the doors only went on the first catch, but just
push it cosed with 1 finger and it shut perfectly with
a click, I still make a grab for the passenger door when
people get out to lessen the shock.
Must be something they are born with.

Who would design a vehicle that falls over when you stop?

If you find a fix for your problem please let us know it will help others.
