Hello and welcome to the forum.

I've certaintly never heard of anyone trying this, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be possible. If you do decide to do it,please keep us up to date on developments.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

Mmmm interesting .... dont forget that the Espace 1/2/3 are all glavanised frames with plastic panels so you need to be very careful what your cutting (despite what they did on TopGear ) as there is no structural strength in any of the Espace panel/bodywork, and the roof load is a dismal 60-80kg dependant on version 1/2/3 .... so plan well, and lets know how you progress.

Hope it helps

Why is it the older I get .... the better I think I was ?

Interesting proposal, but it would be easier to start with a van, most camper conversions I have seen are, there not as good looking I suppose but very few modern campers ever are.

The most common Renault conversion was the old traffic but the Renault Master would be ideal it has a very large load bay high roof and a 6 speed gearbox I found it pleasant to drive except for the fact the seats are too high for anyone over 6ft like me so you end up looking out the top of the windscreen.

My parents have a proffessionally made German camper based on the transit chassis and cab, with the 2.5ltr diesel which is surprisingly quick.

Also there are plenty of websites on comverting a van to a camper, I looked into a few years ago until my wife interveened. I'll try and find them...
