better mpg from my V6

Hi all ,

looking forward to 4 days off .. no car maintenance ,, no diy ,, just feet up , bliss !!!!

Anyway posted few months back as to how my computer told me i was averaging 22 mpg no matter what the driving conditions.
Yesterday we went to bicester village for a spot of shopping, for some reason i did not know you could re-set your trip computer (doh!!) . So fiddled about and managed to re-set it to zero, lo and behold immediately it started to change and is now showing me a return of 30 mpg .

Must have been stuck or something .. dunno

Happy Easter to one and all ... Chakota

Nice one! It's great when something you thought was bust rights itself!

The computer will have been displaying your average MPG since the last time it was reset. Ideally, you'd reset it before going on a journey and then look at the figure at the end to get an idea of what MPG your car has been doing.

I found that mine varied between mid-thirties (70mph, 5th, empty motorway, cruise control) and late teens (seventy...ish mph, 3rd, dual carriageway, enthusiastic driving), but used to average out ar about 26-28mpg usually.

Yes. I think you're spot on Benny.

Hello Chakota, nice to hear from you again. I think we're all getting about the same returns from our V6s. Mine settles at around 27.4mpg after more than 500 miles. Of course, the computer also keeps track of your average speed so this should be another indicator on fuel efficiency.

Did you read the post about the gas conversion from Jasper? Sounds ok for someone who does lots of miles.

I think Selly gets much more than we do out of a tankful.

Cheers guys and please let me take this opportunity to wish everyone a peaceful and happy Easter.
