Didn't see it, but know exactly what you mean. Renault take car safety very seriously, they use real life crash data when designing cars, not just design it soit will get 5 stars in the NCAP rating. I remeber reading an article a few years ago about car safety, at the time Renault, Saab & Volvowere about the only manufacturers using real life crash investigatin findings. Renault crashed a Megane into a VW (Golf?) and were that concerned about their findings with the Golf that they actually informed VW about it - as far as I know VW did nothing about it at the time.
We were impressed by the safety standard of the laguna which helped us narrow down our choice of model, we didn't even take a look at the Vectra because a) its a Vauxhall, b) they are boring c) its a Vauxhall, d) its a Vauxhall and e) it didn't do that well in the NCAPratings even tho it did manage 4 stars.
