Are these "flat-blade" wipers available for the Scenic II ? My 54 reg Scenic wipers fart and judder their way across the screen no matter how I clean them or no matter how much water is on the screen !! They do my head in with the noise !!

It could also be down to a "greasy screen" - give that a good clean as well. Also the wiper arms themselves may be ever so slightly bent (twisted). Apparently if cars are driven thru a drive thru car was a lot this can twist the arms. If you do use a drive thru car wash always leave the wipers parked in the upright position ( as near as possible) as this can help to prevent the twisting.
Wrap some cloth around the wiper arm and use a pair of mole grips or similar and gently "twist" the arms - just don't over do it.

Another possibility for juddery wipers is they are actually worn - when did you last replace them. The should ideally be replaced at least every 12mths. Also make sure they are a good quality, fitted with spoilers as this helps prevent juddering.

We had a rover 216 once and garage we bought it from fitted new wiper blades - they juddered just as you describe yours. The garage had fitted non spolier blades although spoilers were originally fitted, they eventually fitted "spoiler" blades and they were silent and smooth.
