Question Megane 1998 1600 classic saloon... light knocking noise

Anyone shed any light on what I should be checking here:

1998 Megane, Saloon, 1600 Manual box

On corners, and only when accelerating, there is a repeititve knocking sound, it kinda feels like it's even vibrating the steering wheel, and pedals, but am not sure if that's just My imagination!

It sounds like it's coming from the front of the vehicle, doesn't do it at low speed, and as I say, if I don't accelerate, I'm fine.

Sometimes even slight cornering makes it happen.

Also, possibly related, reversing on a corner makes a louder noise, again at the front.

CV boots etc all look pretty much brand new, what else should I be checking?

Several things to check out here.
If the CV boots look new then have they been replaced because the old ones were split? CV joints are very open to getting dirt into them due to the very nature of where they are.
Front wheel bearings could also be the culprits. Not so easy to check but if you jack up the car and try to rock the wheel any movement would be obvious. If you try turning the wheels at speed and feel for a rumbling sensation through the driveshaft, could also indicate wheel bearing failure.

The driveshaft themselves could also be playing up. I think there are a few posts on the forum relating to driveshaft failure.

One other point to check is the front lower ball joints.
If you jack up the car and remove the roadwheel and get a lever between the hub and the lower wishbone you can check for play in the balljoint.

Hope this helps Kind reagrds Oily.
