Oh dear. Sorry to hear about the problems with your Espace. Getting a refund was probably the right thing to do in the circumstances.

Hope its not put you off the Renault brand. Renault may have contributed towards the new engine, seeing as one of their dealers gave the car a clean bill of health.

at least your getting the money back mate!

Renault cant be held responsable for a incorrectly fitted cam belt can they?

Was the renault dealer a renault dealer, or a franchised dealer?
The only reason we swerved an RAC/AA check was because it was going to a main dealer for one of their 25-pt healthchecks. The healthcheck was performed after the cambelt/waterpump change and remarked that coolant needed topping up. When we got the car the coolant level was inbetween the Min and Max marks so we just elected to keep an eye on it. A mere 28 miles later it was all over for that engine.

We were on our way to Norfolk with the car fully-loaded, six people on board (inc. two toddlers and a baby), a brand new roof box on top and the whole lot of us and our luggage/high chairs/travel cots and suitcases etc waited three hours in a layby before being hoisted onto a flatbed with a crewcab for a four hour journey to our destination. Worst start to a holiday ever. We'd had the car two days at that point.

Jeez mindframe, thanks a real PITA. Just goes to show how good these 'health checks' really are! You would have thought they would have got the car up to temp. to pass it

Shame because it looks like a very nice motor in all other respects
