The Meaning Of 'dCi'

I'm about the buy a RENAULT MEGANE GRAND SCENIC DYNAMIQUE (100) 1.5DCI. I was wondering what dci means? and also, does this car have a turbo ?

I don't know for sure but my guess would be Diesel Commonrail Injection

a900ss could be correct but ....

dCi - I believe that the common interpretation is either direct Common-Rail Injection or

Denso Common-rail Injection (after the developers of the mass production system for diesel cars) - dCI for short.

No doubt there will be others



edit - Yes it has a turbocharger

Why is it the older I get .... the better I think I was ?

dCi is imo Renaults brand on their common rail direct fuel injection systems, as other manufacturers refer to their common rail engines by their own brand names

example:

Renault - dCi
Ford - TDCi
Opel/Vauxhall - CDTi
Mazda - CiTD
Volkswagen - TDI
Currently in vDiag's garage:

But what would that be in French? i.e. NATO - OTAN.
