Yeh the dealer reckoned it won't clear and did say they could clear it for me.

They had the car all day today, did the diag, cleaned the car and vacuumed it, plus checked the faults by going under and checking out the cat etc.

ALL FOR 21.86 I was surprised, I thought that was very reasonable for a main stealer?

I would go for the throttle body first as it is a know problem on the 1.8 engine.. Especially if you have an MGI unit fitted as standard..

Ah now it's interesting you should say that, I had noticed through searching on here last week that this was likely.

BUT the cat has gone definately. The thing is completely broken up inside I can hear it with the slightest tap and when your driving or even just idling.

Because it's knackered I need it anyway and thought I'd hold onto the slim hope that the throttle sorted itself.

Interestingly enough it hasn't faulted for over three days now all of a sudden. The dealer thought it may be because the cat is no longer sending gases back but completely broken up and allowing everything straight through?
