Aye there's one thing for sure, if you have a Renault (Esp a Lag II 1.9DCi) your hand isn't going to be out of your pocket much, that i can guarantee!

2 people that'll never worry about being out of work, Undetakers and Renault mechanics...........

I still love the sh1teheap tho, big, comfy and for its size pretty economical.

The two most insecure jobs in the world? easy, Gordon Brown and Renault salespeople.
On the positive side leather suppliers report a massive demand in wallets-- a survey found it was due to the Lag 2 phenomenom.

Thanks to all of you who've posted constructive comments... they have been noted.

I'm shocked (and slightly confused) at how a forum can have a following of people who seem to have cars that they consistantly throw money at...

Yes i understand that there are thousands of relatively fault free cars out there, and YES i also realise that the problems are generally the only highlighted ones, but surely a forum should offer a little more support for the new member like myself and try to encourage people to keep their cars rather than to get rid...
I've been on a few car forums over the years and have never been greeted with 'thats a whole load of trouble you have there.. get rid' attitude from any members...

well please dont think i'm moaning, i know it looks like it. I'm just a little confused now. If i bought a car that was a whole heap of trouble, i'd get shut buy something else, leave that forum and join another... exactly what i've just done which is why i'm here..

thanks again for all the constructive comments... i'm waffling now so i'll have a break

Hi Bazza

We do seem to attract a varied bunch here, and the Lag II doesn't have the best reliability record on the forum.

Having said that my brother in law has had a 52 plate 1.9 since new and it's never missed a beat, and we have members that have replaced their lag II with another one, so they can't be all bad

To back up what Pat said in his post above.

I went to PC World yesterday and saw a guy getting out of an 04 1.9 Megane (same engine) I asked if he'd had any problems like turbo 's or EGR valves.

His reply was "I've had the car since day one, and I've never had any problems at all, and its done 137K miles.
