I'd get some written assurance from him that if the tyres are removed, then;
a) its at his cost
b) he accepts the risk if the wheels are damaged in transit
If a wheel is dropped it can buckle or even crack the rim.
There are plenty of online courier companies out there - I have used City Link www.city-link.co.uk before without problem.
You'll still need to tape them up with bubble wrap to prevent the face of the wheels being damaged.
I'd get his assurance before proceeding.
