The concept of the dealers paying towards faulty parts would be fantastic, but would not happen. No, the arguement is that Renault should pay, which they say they are doing by offering a reduced price fix for this problem.

Secondly, I see what you are saying about being involved in altering mileage, but it would appear that Renault have already done so and to the detriment of the customer in damo_mc's case.

The mileage can be matched to the MOTs, but when it comes to selling the car, many buyers would view that discrepency with suspicion.

Yes thanks for clarifying that, and as most will know no matter how genuine the reason punters are apprehensive when told speedo has been changed or not sure on mileage.
Its like the "its done over 100k miles it cant be any good" syndrome, not true even with petrol cars. Its all down to lack of trust and perhaps education.
And in certain matters we need the lemon law as in states dont hold out hope President of all people Blair (he hopes) will bring one in.

One of our members has emailed me to let me know that having contact Renault Customer Services after watching the Watchdog program she will be able to claim back the expenses bar 100 for the new parts and installation required.

Reading between the lines, I imagine this is for the repair to an out of warranty Scenic.

If you are experiencing the same problem, it would be wise to ring Renault Customer Services for advice.

Just thought I'd mention that the claiming back of the difference if you had paid more than 100 was already mentioned here 3 weeks ago in the Renault UK posting.
