The chip happened on the way home from Telford on Sunday night. I went nowhere on Monday and only did the 40 miles or so to work on Tuesday morning before getting it fixed.
It's like a small area of the windscreen is a different colour to the rest. I'd go so far as to say that the glass is slightly tinted, but the resin isn't - that's why I was wondering if they'd drilled through the athermic coating.
It's a vast improvement on the chip, and only really noticeable when the windscreen is otherwise spotlessly clean. I don't have much luck with windscreens and tend to go through one at least every 18 months or so (this car's already on its second) so maybe I won't have to put up with it for too long
