Ive never been to a Halfords...at least not since they became Retail Park type superstores....

But today I went with my daughter cos she wants a new stereo from her Micra and said Halfords is the place

Anyhoo... I always wondered why folk referred to Halfords ... as HALFRAUDS ... until today. I was gobsmacked at the prices. What a rip-off... or was it just me

But when you have a daughter who wants to buy herself a radio, (ideally) wants it today, (certainly) expects me to fit it today...and for it to then work TODAY (ROFL).... you get me drift?

She knew what model of radio she wanted, there was only one Blaupunkt on display, but the big sign tells there valued customers to ask for the BP Specials Catalog. We find a store assistant and ask for a catalog. His reply was "A wha..?". We repeat "a Blaupunkt Specials Catalog". He turns away to walk off and then says "Got None".

So..ignorant staff+no stock = no sale

But at least it meant no head stuffed into a Micra dashboard for me

Never had a problem with them myself, though their policy on returns apparently contravenes your consumer rights.

I've not been for ages as i thought the same, but was pleasantly surprised when i visited recently(It was a Sunday-only place open). Some of their prices, for service parts are now even lower than my usual parts suppliers. saying that, i still think their stereo prices are a tad too high.

Nice to see both sides of the story. I wouldn't trust their advice particularly - that's what forums are for!

However, they are reasonably priced for some stuff and bloody convenient!
