Hi, good choice an Espace, I have had several and despite all the efforts of Renault to put me off with crap dealers and on some even worse build quality I still bought another one.

For my money the latest Grand Espace IV is the best by miles .... engine I'd plump for the 2.2dCi only because I would not spend a £4-5K premium on the 3.0dCi way to much extra and autobox only, but might be less on a pre-owned.

Good Luck

The Espace IV is a fantastic car.

The Race was a limited edition to get rid of the last of the previous model.

You're probably looking at a 2004/5 for that money which would give you choice of Expression or Privilege - mine's the Priv giving a few extra goodies inc Xenons which are nice to have.

I went for a 2.0 Turbo Petrol being a hater of all things diesel although I probably will go for an oil burner next time - this one drinks petrol for fun - averaged 23mpg on a 1000 mile round trip which was 2/3 motorway

The car drives really well both around town and on the motorway where it will happilly cruise at 90 quietly and comfortably - although you can't do that of course *cough*

They are very roomy and versatile - last week went to Cornwall, there was only four of us so just had 4 seats in giving loads of space for luggage and plenty of room in the back for the kids.

Ours has the Panoramic Roof which is great to have, makes the inside feel even bigger but you can have the cover over it when you like.

If you have any specific questions just ask.

I have had 3. 1 x Phase 2 - 2x Phase 3. All diesels, giving excellent fuel consumption considering the size of the body. Very comfortable, effortless to drive with a superb all-round visibility, parking very easy. The 2.2DCi best model overall, for power/economy.
Started my Espace experience with a loaned 2.0L Petrol version. Only complaint the fuel consumption, hence the move to a diesel when I bought.
Not had the opportunity to drive the Phase 4 but should logically be even better.
If I had not become widowed I would probably still have one. (My late wife used to love them)
