Got a Legal Problem Anyone Help????

I Bought my Laguna at six months old from a "large multiple reputable dealer" I just noticed a bit of paint on the nearside rear quarter panel that seemed to be flaking, and then my wife noticed that the rear nearside tyre was wearing on the shoulder. When I changed the wheel for the spare I noticed a bit of a kink on the boot floor, after further checking around I have found loads of overspray on the underneath of the near side which seems to start from the front passenger door to the rear of the vehicle. The wheel I have just taken off looks really poorly, it wont even stand up on it's own it is worn that badly on one side.

I may sound a little daft but I did not expect to have to get on the floor and inspect a car I was buying from a dealer of quite good standing especially when it was HPI checked by them on my behalf, I know some self insured and third party accidents donít get reported but surely something should have been noticed by the dealer whilst doing the PDI.

Anyone help me out with regard to where I stand.

the AA and RAC both do independent surveys on cars perhaps they may be able to check your vehicle. I guess that you are suspectingthat it has had a knock which has required a respray and has possible put the rear end out of alignment.

Yep you got it, but unfortunatly it looks more like an almighty bang. I have a friend who is a police vehicle inspector and he has had a quick look and said It's had a hard impact on the nearside, he's great for legal advise with regard to traffic law but when it comes to the consumer bit i might as well talk to the trees. I think I have every right to take it back as surely they sold me something which was not fit for its purpose and could also be dangerous. I am ringing the AA in the morning to get an engineers report on it before I aproach the dealer.

Thanks for the quick reply

How long have you had the car?

I suspect they will try and blame you for the damage,so be prepared.

You are doing the right thing in having an independant inspection done, and then go and see the dealer face to face with their findings. If you get no joy, then take it further.

Keep us up to date on developments.

I think your quite right to get an AA report done. Some thing that has been hit that hard should have been professionaly repaired. It sounds to me as if the repairs were done on the cheap and have not been done that well.

You could also try your local Citisans Advice Bureau (spelling)..

I have used our local one several times and they were excellent...

Hope this helps and please keep us updated.

Kind regards Oily.
