Talking Woman in distress - needs help!

I love my car....or I did!!! Clio Initiale 04 on 53 plate, 1.5dci, turbo diesel, 29ooo miles. It drove like a dream it was so smooth, like cream until to the garage it went......It went for a service to a 'good garage guide' garage which did an mot for free. Mot was not due until July but I thought hey its free....no....new springs, tyre, brake pads, tracking....
Since then the smoothness has gone. It roars at me like a lion when changing gears, 2nd, 3rd. The revs go up and seems very eager to go but nothing to back it up. The umph seems to have gone a little. The garage asure me its ok, sweet car, getting used to me!!
Headlights suddenly wont turn off either.
Does anyone know what I mean or am I being paraniod like the garage man said?

Re: Woman in distress - needs help!

You said brakes were changed? Try this, go to a slight down hill section on a quite road & push clutch in & see how it rolls, have the motor running so you still have brake assitance. I'm just curious about wether the brakes might be binding, or the hand brake is adjusted up to much. It should roll quite freely. Listen for noises like rubbing, squeaking that match what you would imagine the wheel speed would be. Also has the hand brake changed, there should be about 4-5 clicks from the off to engaged. By the way, make sure your radio is off and like i said a quite street so you can hear any noises. Post what you hear and I'm sure I or some one else will be able to help.
