Re: 5 Door Clios

I'd say that there are three main factors:
1) The extra cost of the 5 door over the 3 door when new (as I recall, it's a good 500 quid.)
2) The fact that the 3 door generally looks better than the 5 door. This was certainly the case with the Clio II.
3) As already mentioned: The people who are likely to want back doors are also more likely to buy bigger cars. We probably only went for a 5 door Clio on account of already having a 3 door, and the lack of back doors being the only thing that we didn't like.

Certainly, the 5 door Clio II's are like rocking horse muck. We found ours by pure fluke, while taking the previous one in for a service. This one had just been traded in that day. We and our salesman actually gazumped another salesman and customer who'd had first dibs on the next one that came in. I suppose that's the luck of the draw.

We actually wanted a 5 door dCi, but I suspect you're talking lottery odds there. We ended up with another 1.2 16v.

They are in Newcastle, but looking at their prices I'd say it would be worth contacting them even if your not local to them as you do (on the face of it) look like you could save a decent amount of cash. The offers may be available at other dealers too,I'd print off a copy and take it to your local dealer and say 'match that!'.
Cheers, thanks. There is a Bristol Street Motors in Birmingham which is not far from where I am - although I think they only do Fords - will look into it further.

Re: 5 Door Clios

It took me almost 6 months to find my 5dr. I wanted one for ease of carting my friends around - I'm giving them a lift but I ain't a bloody chauffeur, they can open the doors themselves

Being auto, it might have taken longer to find - but they are out there! Mine is a 1.4, but my friend has a 5dr DCi 80 (manual) so there are certainly 5dr's floating around.
