hi all...................just had a look and the cams arent turning so broke timing belt it is I guess.

next thing is trying to fix....................so if anyone can shed light ont his, my partner has done his one on his vectra V6 , so has some idea...........but has never touched a renault.....so if anyone has directions lol............

If the belt has broken at motorway speed,then I'm sure engine damage would have been caused.....

I suspect that a number of valves are bent,and there is a also a possibility of piston damage,too.Unfortunately it's not just a case of putting a new belt on,the head will have to be removed.

Edit;Also you will need some special locking tools to set the timing correctly.The belt crankshaft pulley isn't key-wayed on the crankshaft.You can buy a kit to do this,but I would seriously consider paying someone else to do the work(if at all possible....).

Real sorry for you makes my problem Lag seem no problem really!

Have to say I did a snapped chain (!) on my Nissan GTE once, it snapped at 35mph. I needed a full set of 16 valves, full set of pistons, hydraulic lifters and the head skimming.

If you can find someone reasonable then go for it I say, never again will I mess with one it took me days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
